Dylan Thomas Makes American Debut at Jokcey Gold Cup

Irish Derby and Irish Champion Stakes winner, Dylan Thomas, will make his North American debut in the $750,00 Jockey Club Gold Cup on Oct. 7, at Belmont Park. Trainer Aidan O’Brien also confirmed that John Velazquez will ride Dylan Thomas in that race, which is expected to include Bernardini and Invasor. A Gold Cup win will boost Dylan Thomas’ odds in the $5 million Breeders’ Cup Classic.


Breeder’s Cup Update: Discreet Cat-Bernardini meeting is unlikely to happen

Discreet Cat owner Sheikh Mohammed’s Godolphin Racing, laid out a fall campaign that didn’t include the Breeders’ Cup Classic, but does include Sunday’s Grade 2, $150,000 Jerome Handicap at Belmont Park.

The main event of this year’s 2006 Breeders’ Cup World Thoroughbred Championships, without a doubt, is the Classic. The 23rd renewal should live up to its name at Churchill Downs.

Unbeaten With a Wink Wins Gimma Stakes at Belmont Park

Win With a Wink stretched her unbeaten streak to three with a 2 3/4 -length victory Sunday in the $112,100 Joseph A. Gimma Stakes for New York-bred 2-year-old fillies at Belmont Park. With Fernando Jara aboard, Win With a Wink took charge turning for home and held off a late rally from Laurentide Ice, the 2-1 favorite.
