Queen Elizabeth II Appearance Possible at 2007 Kentucky Derby

Queen Elizabeth II might attend the 2007 Kentucky Derby at Churchill Downs. The U.S. Secret Service is preparing for a “probable” visit from the queen around the first weekend in May. The Derby is Saturday, May 5.

Fair Grounds Race Course Plans for Slot Machine at Racetrack

2007 Kentucky Derby Future Book 1

The Future Book for the 2007 Kentucky Derby race opened today Thursday, February 8, and closes on Sunday at 6:30pm EST. The Future Book for the 133rd Kentucky Derby at Churchill Downs is a bet on who will win the Kentucky Derby race way before the Run for the Roses on the first Saturday of May. The Future Book will be available in two instances - this set of odds is the 2007 Kentucky Derby Future Book 1 - it features long odds for even the favorite horses. Lava Man Is California Horse of the Year, Again

Lava Man was named the 2006 California-bred Horse of the Year in voting by the California Thoroughbred Breeders Association, becoming a back-to-back winner of the honor, which was announced at the CTBA???s annual awards dinner Feb. 5.

Horse of Year Invasor Wins Donn H; Nobiz Like Shobiz Takes Holy Bull

(AP) — Jammed in a crowded field and shut off into the stretch, Horse of the Year Invasor seemed to be beaten in the Donn Handicap at Gulfstream Park. But the Breeders Cup Classic winner turned his 2007 debut into a winning one when he found room to run and captured the 1 1-8-mile race by two lengths on Saturday.

Del Mar Race Course Inaugurates Polytrack

DEL MAR, Calif. (AP) — With Barbaro’s death still fresh on everyone’s mind, Del Mar Race Course officials broke ground Wednesday on an $8 million Polytrack surface designed to dramatically reduce the number of catastrophic injuries sustained by thoroughbreds. Synthetic surfaces will be mandatory at major race tracks in California by the end of this year. Del Mar will be the second track in the state to install one, following Hollywood Park.
