Harlem Rocker Skips Preakness Stakes 2008; Gayego May Run In Pimlico
Monday, May 12th, 2008Todd Petcher-trainee Harlem Rocker will skip the Preakness Stakes and is headed for the $1 million Queen’s Plate Stakes on June 22 at Woodbine.
Pletcher still has a Preakness runner in Lexington Stakes winner Behindatthebar who will be ridden by jockey David Flores, and will be shipped to Pimlico from Belmont Park, home of the 2008 Belmont Stakes, in New York on Saturday morning.
While Arkansas Derby winner and 17th place finisher in the Kentucky Derby Gayego is under consideration to run in the 2008 Preakness Stakes.
“I’m going to decide (Tuesday). We are going to have a meeting,” Gayego’s trainer Paulo Lobo said from Southern California. “I’m going to track him in the morning, then we’ll make a decision.”
