Horse Racing, Casinos In New Jersey Re-Opens
Friday, July 7th, 2006Horseracing and simulcasting in New Jersey are expected to resume on Friday or Saturday after the state’s governor and lawmakers reached a deal Thursday on a new budget, ending nearly a week of crisis and uncertainty in the state. Gov. Jon S. Corzine said the government shutdown that halted Atlantic City casino operations, closed racetracks and threw more than 80,000 people out of work would end in the next 24 to 36 hours.
