Behindatthebar Scratched Off The Preakness Stakes
Posted on Friday, May 16th, 2008
According to a Maryland Jockey Club official, Behindatthebar, who drew post 5, has been scratched from Saturday’s Preakness Stakes (gr. I) because of a bruised left front foot Friday morning at Belmont Park.
Behindatthebar is trained by Todd Pletcher for the Sanan family’s Padua Stable, Michael Shustek, and Don Stanley. Behindatthebar won the Coolmore Lexington Stakes (gr. II) at Keeneland last April 19 and has three wins from five starts and has earned $227,100.
The scratch of the son of Forest Wildcat from the second leg of the Triple Crown, leaves a field of 12 for the $1 million Preakness this Saturday, May 17, at Pimlico Race Course. The 1-2 morning line favorite Big Brown will now break from the 6th post.
A leading 15 Preakness winners have come from the 6th post.
The revised Preakness post position can also be good news for Hey Byrn who is moving to post 12 from 13. No Preakness horse has won from the 13th post while 3 Preakness winners emerged from the 12th post, most recently Afleet Alex in 2005.
All carrying 126 pounds, the updated Preakness entries, from the rail out with jockeys and morning line odds:
