The 2008 Breeders’ Cup Challenge makes its way to the $100,000 Turfway Park Fall Championship Stakes (G3) at 1 1/2 miles on Saturday, September 6, where the Fall Championship winner will automatically be part of the Breeders’ Cup field for the inaugural Breeders’ Cup Marathon on October 25 at Santa Anita Park.
Turfway Park‘s Fall Championship Stakes field of race horses with jockeys and weight in post position order:
- Jade’s Revenge under jockey Jesus Castanon carries 120 lbs.
- Delightful Kiss under jockey Calvin Borel, 118 lbs.
- Star Plus under jockey Corey Lanerie, 116 lbs.
- Telling under jockey Eusebio Razo Jr., 116 lbs.
- Canela under jockey Brian Joseph Hernandez Jr., 116 lbs.
- A. P. Xcellent under jockey Larry Melancon, 116 lbs.
- Storm the Castle under jockey Chantal Sutherland, 116 lbs.
- Taconeo under jockey Tracy Hebert, 118 lbs.
- Tres Copas under jockey Jose Vega, 112 lbs.
- Dominican under jockey Miguel Mena, 116 lbs.
Carrying top weight of 120 pounds, Jade’s Revenge most recently finished second in the June 1 Gallant Man Handicap at Hollywood Park. Prior to that, Jade’s Revenge won the April 19 Fort Harrod Stakes on the Keeneland Polytrack. The 5-year-old son of Quiet American, Jade’s Revenge, will be ridden by jockey Jesus Castanon on the Turfway Park Fall Championship.
Storm the Castle is coming off a 21-length maiden win over 1 1/2 miles on August 9 at Turfway Park. The gelded son of Smart Strike, Storm the Castle, will be leaving from post position 7 under jockey Chantal Sutherland this Saturday.
Other race horses included in the Turfway Park Fall Championship field are: last year’s Ohio Derby (G2) winner Delightful Kiss, former Kentucky Derby (G1) starter Dominican, Stars and Stripes Turf Handicap (G3T) runner-up Telling, and South America invaders Taconeo and Star Plus.
The Fall Championship Stakes is race 9 of 10 horse races in Turfway Park’s September 6 card. Fall Championship post time is 4:57 pm Eastern.
