Forever Together, under jockey Julien Leparoux, moved wide in the stretch and pulled away late to win the $2-million Breeders’ Cup Filly & Mare Turf on October 24 at Santa Anita Park.
The 4-year-old gray filly Forever Together won by 3/4 of a length in a wide-open stretch scramble in which the entire 10-horse field seemingly had a shot in the final yards on 2008 Breeders’ Cup Day Friday. Forever Together covered 1 1/4 miles in 2:01.58 and paid $11.80, $6.40 and $4.80.
Sealy Hill, ridden by jockey Patrick Husbands, edged Wait A While for second and paid $36.20 and $15.80. Wait A While had a chance in the middle of the stretch before fading to third and paid $3.60.

Jockey Julien Leparoux picked up his second career Breeders’ Cup victory by smartly keeping Forever Together outside the jumbled Breeders’ Cup Filly & Mare Turf pack.
“She was relaxed, kind of behind a little bit, but she was very relaxed,” jockey Julien Leparoux said. “Like usual, she made that kick at the end. She’s amazing. It’s a great privilege to ride this filly. She’s amazing. Probably one of the best fillies I ever rode.”
