Denis of Cork Injured & Out For The Year
Posted on Monday, July 7th, 2008
Denis of Cork, who finished 3rd in the Kentucky Derby and 2nd in the Belmont Stakes, will miss the rest of the year after incurring a minor injury in his left hind ankle.
Race horse trainer David Carroll said Monday that the horse began showing signs of distress “in behind” about 3 days after posting an easy half-mile breeze on June 30 at his home base, Churchill Downs. He also said that no surgery will be required.
“It’s disappointing, but he’ll come back 110 percent and have time to mature,” Denis of Cork’s trainer David Carroll said. “Hopefully we’ll come back with a great horse next year.”
Denis of Cork has earned $613,252 from 6 starts.
