Jockey Jeremy Rose Suspension Cut In Half
Posted on Tuesday, July 22nd, 2008
The Delaware Thoroughbred Racing Commission has cut in half jockey Jeremy Rose’s suspension for whipping his race horse in the face.
Jockey Jeremy Rose, who won the 2005 Preakness and Belmont Stakes aboard Afleet Alex, was initially suspended for 6 months after he accidentally struck Appeal to the City in the face and eye on June 23 at Delaware Park as she ran a race, eventually finishing third.
The suspension of jockey Jeremy Rose was cut to 3 months at a hearing on Tuesday. Rose can race again on September 23 but must pay a $5,000 fine as well as the race horse’s medical bills, complete the anger management course he is taking and improve his whip technique.
