Kiss the Kid Ready To Take On Big Brown In The Monmouth Stakes

Posted on Tuesday, September 9th, 2008

Ready to take on the Kentucky Derby, Preakness and Haskell winner Big Brown in Saturday’s Monmouth Stakes is Kiss the Kid, a multiple graded stakes placed runner who races in the colors of Hardacre Farm.

Online Horse Betting“When we saw this opportunity we decided to jump on it,” said Amy Tarrant, who owns Hardacre Farm and conditions Kiss the Kid. “I think my horse always shows up for a race. He’s a bulldog. He’s as fit as he could possibly be.”

Kiss the Kid, a 5-year-old by Lemon Drop Kid, recently finished third in the Iselin (G3) on the dirt at Monmouth Park. In a career that has spanned 22 races, Kiss the Kid sports 5 in the money finishes in graded stakes races, is a stakes winner over the Meadowlands turf course, and is a multiple winner over the Monmouth lawn.

As for the potential of pulling off an upset in the Monmouth Stakes, “Big Brown is a champion,” Tarrant said, “so running against him is fun, and if we pulled off the upset I wouldn’t be sad at all because Big Brown is already a champion.

“I figure life is short and I’ve got some nice horses and paid a lot of money for them so I figure why not – I’m stabled here and we don’t have to ship. And if he pulls off the upset – that’s great.”
