Nistle’s Crunch Wins The Commonwealth Turf at Churchill Downs

Alien Farm’s Nistle’s Crunch overtook 2 leaders inside the sixteenth pole and beat 2-1 favorite Seaspeak to win Sunday’s $112,900 Commonwealth Turf (gr. III) by half a length at Churchill Downs, home of the Kentucky Derby.
Ridden by jockey Robby Albarado, Nistle’s Crunch covered 1 1/16 miles on the firm Matt Winn Turf Course in 1:44.48 earning $66,500 for the Commonwealth Turf win.
Trained by Ken McPeek, Nistle’s Crunch got clear sailing at the 16th pole and passed Seaspeak and Jimmy Simms for the victory paying $17.20, $6.60 and $4.40.
Seaspeak, with jockey Kent Desormeaux aboard, returned $4.40 and $3, finishing ahead of Jimmy Simms, under jockey Shaun Bridgmohan, who paid $4.60 to show.
Snoose Goose and Veiled Prophet were noses apart in fourth and fifth, respectively, and were followed in order by Amazing Results, Cherokee Triangle, Allsarott, Mr Maccool and Boss Lafitte.
