Official 2006 Kentucky Derby Site Launched
Posted on Friday, January 13th, 2006
Churchill Downs has launched the official website for the 132nd Kentucky Derby and its sister race, Kentucky Oaks. The redesigned sites offer complete and updated coverage of the 2006 Derby race.
Kentuckyderby.com and Kentuckyoaks.com feature daily news updates, exclusive articles from top handicappers, free video of every major Kentucky Derby and Oaks prep race, and detailed information on each Derby and Oaks contender, including photographs, videos, past performances, pedigree information, and recent workouts.
Kentuckyderby.com also includes an online Derby Store and a virtual Derby experience, with webcams, celebrity videos, and photo galleries designed to capture the event’s excitement and pageantry.
The site also celebrates its 10th anniversary in 2006 and will include five major sections to cover the various aspects of the Kentucky Derby. The "Coverage" portion includes the richly informative Derby contenders section, as well as event news, daily updates from the racetrack, workout videos, trainer interviews, and real-time odds on the popular Kentucky Derby Future Wager. Las Vegas handicapping expert Roxy Roxborough again joins CDSN handicappers John Asher, Jill Byrne, Steve Fugitte, and Mark Hoard to offer favorite picks and top selections.
Meanwhile, Kentuckyoaks.com is the official Web site of the Kentucky Oaks and is owned and operated by Churchill Downs Incorporated. As one of the world’s top races for 3-year-old fillies, the Kentucky Oaks traditionally takes place on the Friday prior to the first Saturday in May. The 132nd running of this celebrated event is scheduled for May 5, 2006, at Churchill Downs in Louisville, Ky. Approximately 100,000 people attend the Oaks in person, with several million tuning in via television and radio worldwide.
