Santa Anita Park Cancels February 3 Horse Racing Program; Cushion Track to be Repaired

Posted on Sunday, February 3rd, 2008

Due to wet weather conditions, Santa Anita Park has announced that live racing has been cancelled Sunday, February 3. First post time was originally scheduled for 11 a.m. After conferring with jockeys, trainers and track maintenance personnel, the decision to cancel today’s races was made at 8:45 a.m.

Santa Anita’s synthetic Cushion Track main track surface, which has been beset with drainage problems this winter, will be amended with the Australian-based Pro-Ride synthetic polymer and binder, with work set to begin this afternoon. This project will continue into the new week and live racing is scheduled to resume at Santa Anita this Friday.

A Pick Six carryover of $181,514 will await players when live racing returns on Friday.

Simulcast wagering will be offered today, Wednesday and Thursday, with free General Admission offered to all attendees. First post time Friday is scheduled for 1 p.m.

Santa Anita’s winter/spring meet runs through April 20.
