Santa Anita Park Reschedules Stakes Races

Posted on Wednesday, January 9th, 2008

Santa Anita Park has rescheduled each of the four stakes races canceled last weekend due to heavy rainfall and drainage problems with its Cushion Track racing surface.

The $150,000 San Pasqual Handicap race for older horses at 1 1/16-miles will be the 7th race on Saturday, January 12. The $100,000 Santa Ysabel Stakes (gr. III) race for three-year-olds fillies also at 1 1/16 miles, will be made up on Sunday, January 13. The San Pasqual Handicap and Santa Ysabel Stakes were originally scheduled for Santa Anita Park’s January 5 program.

This coming Saturday and Sunday, Santa Anita will have a special post time of 11:45 am. The track’s gates will open at 10 am.

Both the $150,000 San Gorgonio Handicap (gr. II) turf race for older fillies and mares at 1 1/8 miles and the $75,000 Paseana Handicap race for older fillies and mares at 1 1/16 miles have been rescheduled for Monday, January 14. The San Gorgonio Handicap was originally slated for Santa Anita’s January 6 horse racing program while the Paseana Handicap was originally part of the canceled race card on January 7.
