Rewrite Wins Belmont’s Irish Actress Stakes

NEW YORK (AP) — Rewrite cut between rivals in the deep stretch Wednesday to beat Artistic Express by a head in the $67,500 Irish Actress Stakes for New York-bred 3-year-old fillies at Belmont Park.
Trained by Christophe Clement and ridden by Mike Smith, Rewrite ran 1 1-16 miles on firm turf course in 1:41.27. She paid $5.10, $3.50 and $2.70 for her fourth win in six career starts.
Artistic Express returned $5.60 and $3.90, and Tamberino paid $7.50 to show.
