Past the Point To Race In The Native Driver Handicap at Hollywood Park December 6
Posted on Wednesday, December 3rd, 2008
Four-year-old Past the Point, second-place finisher to 2007 Horse of the Year Curlin in the Woodward Stakes at Saratoga in August, seeks his first stakes victory Saturday in the $100,000-added Native Diver Handicap (G3) at 1 1/8 miles on the Hollywood Park Cushion Track.
In two other graded stakes starts, the Darley Stable ridgling Past the Point finished third in the 2007 Super Derby at Louisiana Downs and fifth in the Meadowlands Cup as the favorite in his last outing October 3.
Race horse trainer Eoin Harty hopes Past the Point likes Cushion Track in his Southern California debut. “He won on synthetic at Arlington, but his last two tries on synthetic were disappointing,” said Harty of subsequent starts at Golden Gate Fields and Keeneland.

Curlin Wins Woodward Stakes at Saratoga Race Course & Nears Cigar In Earnings
Posted on Saturday, August 30th, 2008
Curlin won the $500,000 Woodward Stakes beating long-shot Past the Point by 1 length Saturday at Saratoga Race Course.
The $300,000 winner’s share moved the Stonestreet Stable-owned Curlin past Skip Away as the second-leading money winning thoroughbred in history with more than $9.79 million and leaves him less than $200,000 behind Cigar ($9.9 million).
Curlin, ridden by jockey Robby Albarado, ran 1 1-8 miles in 1:49.34 in en route to his 4th victory in 5 starts this year and 6th straight win on dirt.
Last year’s Preakness Stakes and Breeders’ Cup Classic winner, Curlin paid $2.70, $2.40 and $2.10. Past the Point, under jockey Edgar Prado, returned $13.80 and $6.40, and Wanderin Boy, piloted by jockey Julien Leparoux, paid $3.50 to show.

Curlin Draws Post Position 5 In The Woodward at Saratoga August 30
Posted on Thursday, August 28th, 2008
2007 Breeders’ Cup Classic winner and Horse of the Year Curlin drew post position 5 post in a field of 8 and was made the 3-5 morning-line favorite for Saturday’s $500,000 Woodward Stakes at Saratoga Race Course.
The 4-year-old regarded as the world’s best horse on dirt, Curlin, goes for his 6th straight win on that surface in the 1 1/8-mile Woodward, a winning streak interrupted last month when he was asked to race on grass for the first time and finished second in the Man o’ War Stakes at Belmont Park.
Jockey Robby Albarado, who has ridden Curlin throughout his career, has the mount and a victory in Saratoga’s Woodward will put the colt, whose earnings stand just short of $9.5 million, at the threshold of $10 million and in position to surpass Cigar by season’s end as the all-time leading money winning thoroughbred.
