(AP) — Nobiz Like Shobiz won his turf debut by half a length over Marcavelly on Monday in the $150,000 National Museum of Racing Hall of Fame Stakes at Saratoga Race Course.

Running just behind Sahara Heat’s pace for most of the 1 1-8 mile race on the inner turf, jockey Cornelio Velazquez launched a bid at the head of the stretch to take the Grade 2 race for 3-year-olds.

“He seems to be versatile, now he’s won graded stakes races on both surfaces,” trainer Barclay Tagg said. “I don’t know for sure what his best distance on the turf will be, but he trained very well on it. If he hadn’t, I wouldn’t have run him in this race.”

Nobiz Like Shobiz was coming off a second-place effort in the July 4 Dwyer at Belmont park. Previously, he finished 10th in the Kentucky Derby after running to an impressive win in the April 7 Wood Memorial at Aqueduct. He has five wins from nine career starts.

Nobiz Like Shobiz finished in 1:49.29, returning $5.20, $3.30, and $2.30. Marcavelly paid $2.70 and $2.20 to place, while Distorted Reality returned $2.40.
